The basis of dynamic operation of the European Union is harmonization of the legislation, which also relates to nature conservation. When talking about nature conservation, the term Natura 2000 is used more and more frequently. Natura 2000 is the EU network which consists of special areas for conservation where natural habitats of types listed in Annex I of the Habitat Directive and habitats of species listed in Annex II of the same directive can be found, as special protected areas where habitats of birds listen in Annex I of the bird directive and sites of mass occurrence of migratory birds are located.
The documentary film presents habitats and species significant for Natura 2000 characteristic to Western-Estonia.
This film has been produced as part of the pilot project Natura 2000 launched in the Läänemaa and Raplamaa countries.
